Playing for fun

A night on the slots or at a live table should feel like an evening out: you set aside an amount you can spare, enjoy it and stop when it is gone. Most of our players treat it exactly that way. This page is for the moments when it starts to feel different, and for anyone who simply likes having a few controls in place from the start.

Strictly 18+

Accounts are for adults only, so no one under 18 can open one, and age is checked before any money is paid out. If you share a laptop or phone with children, log out after playing and keep your password to yourself. Parental control software can block gambling sites on family devices.

Signs to look out for

It may be time to pause if you notice any of these:

  • you deposit again straight after losing, hoping to win it back;
  • you play longer or with more money than you meant to;
  • gambling money comes from bills, savings or borrowing;
  • you keep the size of your gambling secret from family or friends;
  • time away from the games leaves you restless or short-tempered.

A single sign does not by itself mean you have a problem. Several together, or one that keeps coming back, are a good reason to use the tools below or talk to someone.

Tools in your account

All of these are under Responsible Gaming in your account settings. If you cannot find one, live chat will set it up for you.

Deposit limits

Set a cap per day, week or month. Tightening it works immediately. If you want to raise or drop it, a cooling-off period runs first, so you decide with a clear head and not halfway through a session.

Loss and wager limits

With a loss limit you fix the most you can lose in a set period; a wager limit does the same for the total you stake. When either is reached, you can still log in and withdraw, but you cannot place new bets until the period resets.

Reality checks

Pick a reminder every 30 or 60 minutes. It pops up with your session time so far and your net result since you logged in. Time slips away fast on a good run, and this puts the numbers in front of you.

Time-out

A time-out locks your account for a short break of anywhere between 24 hours and six weeks. While it runs, logging in to play or deposit is blocked and our marketing to you stops. The account reopens on its own when the period ends.

Self-exclusion

How it works with us

When a short break won’t do, self-exclusion is the stronger option. You pick six months, a year, five years or for good. Your account is closed for that time, any remaining balance is paid out, and we take reasonable steps to stop you opening a new one with the same details. A self-exclusion cannot be lifted early, even if you ask. Once a fixed period ends, the account does not reopen automatically; reopening it means getting in touch with us and then waiting one more day before you can play.

GAMSTOP and Winplace

Winplace sits outside UK Gambling Commission licensing, which means a GAMSTOP registration does not reach Winplace accounts. If you are registered with GAMSTOP and also hold a Winplace account, our own self-exclusion gives you the same break here, and live chat can set it up straight away. To be excluded from as many sites as possible at the same time, combine both with the bank and device blocks below.

Blocking gambling payments and sites

Gambling blocks from your bank

Many UK banks and card issuers, including the large high-street banks and app-based banks such as Revolut and Monzo, let you switch on a gambling block in their app. It stops your debit card from paying gambling merchants, including us. Some banks make you wait 48 hours or longer to switch the block off again, which helps on a bad day.

Blocking software

Apps such as Gamban or BetBlocker stop gambling websites from loading on your phone, tablet and computer. Some charities can help with the cost. Because Winplace runs in the browser rather than as an app, a site blocker covers it too.

Free, confidential support in the UK

National Gambling Helpline

Dialling 0808 8020 133 costs nothing, and the line is answered at any hour, weekends included. GamCare runs the line and also offers live chat and can refer you to free counselling near you. Find out more at gamcare.org.uk.

BeGambleAware

BeGambleAware has a short self-assessment quiz, practical tips and details of local treatment services across Great Britain. It is a good starting point if you are not sure whether your gambling is a problem.

If you are worried about someone else

Partners, parents and friends can ring the National Gambling Helpline as well. Gambling problems often affect the people around the player most, and support exists for them as well. You do not need the player’s permission to ask for advice.

Bonuses, budgets and keeping it light

A budget before you deposit

Decide what an evening is worth to you before you open the cashier, not after the first spin. Treat that sum as spent, the way you would a cinema ticket, and anything you win as a bonus. Pay only with a debit card or money that is already yours; that is precisely why we take no credit cards from UK players.

Wagering is not a target

A welcome bonus comes with a 40x wagering requirement and 7 days to meet it. If chasing that requirement means playing longer or depositing more than you planned, let the bonus lapse. Your own deposit is not affected when a bonus expires, and if you would rather not receive bonus offers at all, tell live chat and we will stop sending them.

Talking to us

Our support team

Live chat in the lobby and our support address are both staffed by people trained to help with limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. You do not need to explain why you want a limit. Ask, and we set it. If our team notices patterns in an account that look like harm, they may get in touch to check how things are going, and in some cases apply limits themselves.

The contact page lists every way to reach us.
